Stunning Regency Ball Gown Up for Auction!18 August, 2010She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night... She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff... She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple... Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. —Excerpts from Proverbs 31 I’m grateful to be married to an industrious, skillful, Proverbs 31 woman who delights in the work of her hands and contributing to the household economy. Of particular noteworthiness is her newest creation—a beautiful Regency-era ball gown ensemble, newly-completed and up for auction on eBay. Visit our eBay listing to view details and place your bid! His Very First Fourth!07 July, 2010This Independence Day, we traveled to a spot near Centerville square to watch a fireworks display. I confess I spent more time watching my son and his expressions as he stared in complete wonder at what he was seeing. In the image below, he and his Mama are standing with their backs against a parked van—the window of which is reflecting what Calvin is seeing behind the photographer (me in this case). Photographically lousy, but a priceless expression of innocence and awe!
Captain Calvin Sets Sail25 June, 2010Yesterday, on the eve of his eight-month birthday, Calvin cast off to sea in his little rubber adventurer’s raft, braving the rough waters and other unknown perils of the sea... or at least of his Great-Grandaddy’s swimming pool.

The North Carolina Homeschool Conference08 June, 2010Our little family had the privilege and pleasure of representing Vision Forum at the recent NCHE convention in Winston-Salem. It was a good time of ministering to others as well as being ministered to. It was also our first time at the table as a family, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
God’s Mercy and the Power of Water07 May, 2010Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. —Psalm 46:8-11 In God’ kindness, we were preserved this past weekend as torrential rainfall produced what some are calling a thousand-year flood. The heavy rain, which swept through much of Tennessee, caused significant damage across the state and I was able to chronicle just a small portion of the damage in our local area of Hickman County. Being now on the other side of several days of intense rain, one can’t help but ponder what 40 days and 40 nights would accomplish. Then again, we need not ponder. We can read about it in Genesis. |
